Some of you wanted to know when this was open to the public. It still needs lots of work -- infrastructure and a much better design as well as content and community and ease of use and all. We are kind of opening it up a bit now though, to see what will happen and what directions it might take, so:

PeaceForge

It's nowhere near as user-friendly as I'd like so far. I'd really like people to be able to find information quickly on different conflicts they might be struggling with, and to see immediately what patterns they're involved in, and ways to escape them.

Thoughts and comments welcome though :) The site itself also has a place for comments and ideas and stuff, if you check out the Meta pages.

This is really interesting - and will be useful, I think, in my teaching. Most of my students resolve conflict by violence and aggression, working with them to explore other options is a key to turning them round - this site looks as if it could have plenty of helpful material! Thanks

Glad to hear it! :)

There's actually not much content on the site yet, but you might find some of the exercises useful in Education/Toolbox.

I was thinking a while back, that it would be great to have a kids' section -- PeaceForge For Kids or PeaceForge Jr., which would have similar content, but worded and illustrated and laid out better for kids, with more fun stuff and... hehhheh, maybe more lofty ideas, since adults can't seem to handle those much after the cynicism kicks in ;D

By the way, if you're having kids write essays on things like that, we could probably work out some way of making it special for them by featuring it on the site (or most of them on the site) too :)

Wow! It looks like a lot of work already! It does seem like quite a complex site to visit, but I think that's partly because it does not have a lot of the content yet; the recent changes page is probably the most useful page at the moment, but as the number of articles available grows, visitors will find it easy to navigate between the different main topics to find what they are interested in. It's looking good!

Thanks :) We're thinking of maybe having a map on the front page, with hotspots for current events and things like that. The wiki engine that the site runs on doesn't have such a feature though, so it's some work away yet. Lots of stuff we can do in the long-run, I think :)

Yeah, the look isn't so hard to change; I threw that new design together in a few hours, to just make it look more colourful until we get a proper look in place. It's roughly based on the design from the bottom of our Logo ideas page, here:

http://peaceforge.digitalunleashed.com/moin.cgi/PeaceForge_Logo

We're really still trying to bash out what will be the best look for the site. Probably will end up doing one of those designs more fully in the mean time though, or some combination.
